I believe that religious right wingers will be ecstatic until left leaning churches such as most Catholic churches start doing the same. If any church/religion were to be selectively prohibited from doing so then all hell will break loose.

Religious Liberty EO
by Richard Oliver inwhat does everyone think of the new executive order on religious liberty?
this would include a weakening of the johnson amendment so churches will be freer to either contribute to political campaigns and/or promote a candidate from the pulpit.

Freemindfade: "But you got some serious pharma fat asses rolling in dough."
At least we agree on one thing. One of my medications was charged at $1,000 per month. I blew a fuse when I saw that even though I wasn't paying for it. I thought of having the doctor prescribe me generic but, when I saw the price for that at $600, I decided to go off of it. It wasn't too effective any way.
Next they'll be billing you for a cup of water at the hospital. Ten bucks?

When all is said and restated it all boils down to one thing. Canada has a life expectancy 81.9 years. The United States 79.8. Canadians live 2 years longer than Americans.

Site Updates
by Simon injust a heads-up that i will be testing some updates this evening.. the nature of the changes means it's difficult to test every scenario in advance offline (translation: it's a lot more effort and i just can't be bothered) so i'm going to go with the "wing-it" approach:.
deploy, check for errors, try to fix errors before anyone else notices them.. i can switch between the new and old version pretty quickly so if there are significant issues, i'll rollback and revert the changes while i work on the fixes.
worse case is the pages won't display quite right (dates might be a giveaway) but a full page refresh should fix things.. http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/.

I hate to be making a lot of posts but as soon as I see a problem I cannot edit a post to put more info.
Here's another one; the commentary box does not have bolding, italics and other functions just emoticons.

Slightly off topic but I think the Canadian Single Payer system would be the best for the United States.

Turning 60 today (Happy Birthday to me)
by NewYork44M init is my birthday today.
given that i turn 60 today means that i graduated high school in 1975. time flies when you are having fun.. i remember the council i got about not worrying about a career because this wicked system was rapidly coming to a conclusion.
now i am 60 and most of those bastards are dead and the end is still in the future..

We're back to the point where the commentary box is not appearing on Firefox and IE. Only on Google Chrome.

So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?
by Simon init seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.
i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

The best humour is offensive...
One picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes stating that a person is crazy, by means of my crazy robot image, is the only worthy response. How can you respond to a person who equates feminism with Islam and Marxism in what is obviously an irrational statement.
If he had said that 2+2= 5 then you can have a rational discussion over what it really is. However, if he says that 2+2=oranges then there is no meaningful response possible.
